Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Rinse lentils and cook in vegetable broth until tender, about 25 minutes; drain any excess liquid.
Heat olive oil in a pan, sauté onion and garlic until translucent.
In a large bowl, combine cooked lentils, sautéed onion and garlic, grated carrots, oats, flaxseed, tomato paste, soy sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper.
Mix well until the mixture holds together.
Press mixture firmly into a greased loaf pan.
