French Onion Dip

A creamy and savory homemade french onion dip made with caramelized onions, sour cream, cream cheese, and a touch of cayenne. Perfect for parties or anytime snacking.

Melt the butter in a fry pan over medium heat.
Add the onions, salt, pepper, onion powder and cayenne pepper. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring.
Reduce heat to medium-low and cook for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are sweet and golden. Let cool.
In a bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream and mayonnaise. Mix until smooth. Microwave in 10-second bursts if needed.
Add caramelized onions and stir until just combined.
Refrigerate at least 2 hours to allow flavors to develop. Overnight is better.
Serve at room temperature, garnished with chopped chives if desired. Best served with crinkle-cut potato chips.
