Tired of sugary Mai Tais? My authentic, step-by-step recipe uses a secret rum blend and real orgeat for the perfect, balanced tiki cocktail. Learn the original!

Ingredients
Instructions
Start by filling a double rocks glass with crushed or pebble ice to chill it while you mix the drink. This is a small step that makes a big difference.
Add all ingredients—both rums, fresh lime juice, orange curaçao, orgeat, and simple syrup—into a cocktail shaker.
Fill the shaker about two-thirds full with cubed ice. Seal it tightly and shake hard for 12-15 seconds. The shaker should become incredibly cold and frosty on the outside. This proper shaking chills, dilutes, and aerates the cocktail perfectly.
Dump the chilling ice from your glass and fill it with fresh crushed ice. Strain the contents of the shaker into the prepared glass.
Place the spent lime shell on top of the ice, and then stick the large mint sprig right next to it. Before serving, gently slap the mint sprig against your hand to release its fragrant oils. This aromatic garnish is the first thing you'll experience and is crucial to the perfect Mai Tai.
