Preparation
If using dried navy beans, soak them overnight and cook until tender. Canned beans can be rinsed and drained.
In a large skillet, cook diced bacon (if using) until crispy. Remove and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pan.
Add diced onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened.
Cooking
In a large bowl, combine tomato sauce, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Stir to blend.
Add the beans, cooked bacon, and sauce mixture to a baking dish. Stir well to coat the beans evenly.
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes to allow the top to caramelize.
