Ingredients
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix well to ensure even distribution of the leavening agents.
Add the yogurt and warm water to the dry ingredients. Stir until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
Cover the dough and let it rest for 15 minutes. This resting period allows the baking powder and baking soda to activate, resulting in a lighter naan.
Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and then flatten into a disc about 1/4-inch thick.
Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Once hot, place a naan disc on the skillet. Cook for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown and slightly puffed.
While the naan is cooking, mix the melted butter with minced garlic. Once the naan is cooked, brush the garlic butter generously over the top. Sprinkle with cilantro if desired.
