In a large bowl, whisk together the water and baking soda until dissolved. Add the chicken breasts to the bowl and let stand for 15 minutes at room temperature.
Preheat a 6-quart air fryer to 370°F.
In a small bowl, stir together the salt, paprika, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Remove the chicken breasts from the baking soda water and rinse under cold water; pat dry. Coat the chicken with the olive oil and sprinkle evenly with the spice mixture. Arrange the chicken breasts in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
Air fry for 8 minutes, then flip and air fry until the internal temperature reaches 155°F on an instant-read thermometer, 3 to 5 minutes longer. (The temperature will continue to rise to 165°F during the resting step.)
Transfer the chicken to a large plate and let rest for 5 minutes before serving or slicing. The cooked chicken can be refrigerated, well wrapped, for 1 week. To reheat, just use your air fryer again! Cook at 250°F for about 6 minutes. Love the recipe? Leave us stars and a comment below!
