Ingredients
Instructions
Mix flour (corn and wheat, or all-purpose mix or Jiffy mix), egg, milk, and melted butter in a bowl.
Add salt, spices, and baking powder to the cornbread mixture. Mix again.
Add shredded cheddar cheese and finely chopped jalapeno.
Knead the dough until well combined.
Grease a baking dish with oil.
Spread out the dough (cornbread batter). It is not very thick, not pouring, approximately like cottage cheese.
Bake bread for 25-30 minutes at 200C or until golden brown.
Serve the bread once it’s slightly cooled or at room temperature.
Notes
- Cheese Varieties: Experiment with different types of cheese such as pepper jack cheese or gouda cheese for a unique flavor twist in your cornbread. Cast Iron Magic: Baking your cornbread in a preheated cast iron skillet can give it a beautifully crisp crust and even the cooking. Selecting Jalapenos: For a vibrant kick in your jiffy jalapeño cornbread, opt for fresh jalapenos. They bring a brighter, more pronounced heat compared to their canned canned jalapenos.
