Irish Soda Bread is a rustic and quick bread recipe that does not require yeast or kneading. The dough can be made in less than 5 minutes. The main ingredients of traditional soda bread are flour, buttermilk, butter, baking soda, and salt. This quick bread has a golden brown crusty exterior and a dense yet soft and tender texture.

Ingredients
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line your baking pan with parchment paper and keep it aside.
In a bowl, whisk egg and buttermilk. Keep this aside.
Add 4 1/2 cups flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt to a mixing bowl and mix well. Cut in the butter using a fork or fingers until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Make a well at the center, pour in the buttermilk egg mixture, and mix until everything comes together. Add the raisins and mix everything together.
Knead it using your hand for 30 seconds to a minute to make a ball. All the flour you added should be moistened. The dough will be on the sticker side. But if you feel it looks wet, more like batter, add an additional 1/2 cup flour or until you have a sticky dough.
Transfer the dough to the prepared sheet. Score the dough with a knife, blade, or scissors.
Bake the bread for 45 to 55 minutes or until the crust becomes golden brown. Cover with aluminum foil or parchment paper if the bread becomes brown soon.
Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes. Transfer it to a wire rack.
This bread tastes the best when served warm.
