Instructions
Drain the tofu and place it between layers of paper towels or clean kitchen towels. Put a heavy object on top to press out the moisture for 15-30 minutes. After pressing, cut the tofu into evenly-sized cubes about 1 to 1.5 inches each.
In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce or tamari, olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ground black pepper, and chili powder if you want some spice. Toss the tofu cubes gently in this mixture until all sides are coated. Let the tofu marinate for at least 10 minutes if you have time — this helps the flavors soak in.
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes. Arrange the tofu cubes in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd so the air can circulate properly. Cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking or flipping the tofu halfway through to ensure all sides become golden and crispy.
Once cooked, remove the tofu from the air fryer and transfer to a plate. Serve immediately with fresh lime wedges on the side and your favorite dipping sauce like spicy mayo or sriracha mayo for extra flavor.
