Ingredients
Instructions
Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add the sliced onions and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, for 45-60 minutes, until they are deep amber brown and jammy. Season with salt and pepper in the last 10 minutes of cooking.
Remove the onions from the skillet and let them cool completely. Once cooled, give them a fine chop.
In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with a hand mixer until smooth. Add the sour cream, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Mix until fully combined.
Fold the chopped caramelized onions into the cream cheese mixture until evenly distributed.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
Before serving, garnish with freshly chopped chives. Serve with potato chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables.
